First Person Thoughts: I am most motivated to make films not because I love movies or images or even telling stories (I, of course, love all of these things), I am driven to make films because life is one long, profound hallucination for us all; and watching them is a brief respite from this barrage. To quote one of the all-time-greats, "The artist is always the servant, and is perpetually trying to pay for the gift that has been given to him* as if by a miracle."    *This is an almost perfect quote if it weren't for the use of the word "him." This should say "him or her or anyone". Since this man was Russian and this quote is almost 40 years-old, I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
